Premier League Result: Man City Beat Man United 2-0

Manchester United lost 0-2 to Manchester City in the Manchester derby in Week 11 of the Premier League at Old Trafford Stadium, Saturday (6/11).

The hosts trailed 0-2 in the first half through own goals from Eric Bailly and Bernardo Silva. Man City took a quick lead in the eighth minute after Eric Bailly own goal after failing to anticipate Joao Cancelo’s cross from the right.

The visitors dominated the game until the game was running for 20 minutes. However, Man City’s pressure has not yet endangered Man United.

In several attacks, Man City struggled to penetrate the Man United defense, which played three central defenders.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has not been able to show his quality to create opportunities for the Red Devils.

Ronaldo almost brought Man United equalized in the 26th minute. It’s just that Ronaldo’s volley which utilizes Luke Shaw’s cross can be blocked by Ederson Moraes. The rebound also failed to be utilized properly by Mason Greenwood.

The three central defenders installed by Man Utd made it easier for Man City to create a number of goal opportunities. One of them through Phil Foden after receiving a breakthrough bait.

Foden’s cross in the 29th minute almost made Kevin de Bruyne give Man City a 2-0 lead if only his shot was not blocked by Luke Shaw.

Goalkeeper David de gea made a brilliant save by parrying Gabriel Jesus’ shot from in front of goal in the 29th minute. Moments later, De Gea blocked Cancelo’s shot from outside the penalty box.

De Gea saved Man United from conceding multiple goals in the first half. Victor Lindelof almost scored an own goal in the 33rd minute, but was blocked by De Gea.

A minute later, the Spanish goalkeeper parried De Bruyne’s shot from inside the penalty box in the 34th minute.

Before the first half ended, Man City doubled the score to 2-0 through Bernardo Silva’s flick. The goal came from Joao Cancelo’s cross from the left.

Cancelo’s ball that leads to Bernardo escapes Luke Shaw’s guard. Bernardo’s strike failed to anticipate by De Gea so the ball kept going into the goal.

Man United tried to reduce the position in the second half. It’s just that Mason Greenwood’s shot from outside the penalty box in the 59th minute was still wide on the left side of Ederson’s goal.

Another effort from the Red Devils came through Bruno Fernandes’ kick in the 79th minute. Only the kicked by the Portuguese midfielder could be blocked by the visitors’ defense.

Man City almost took a 3-0 lead in the 81st minute, but unfortunately Phil Foden’s shot just hit the post. Defender John Stones also posed a threat to the defense in the 86th minute, but his shot went wide of De Gea’s goal.

Without additional goals in the remaining matches, Man City won 2-0 over Man United.
