Manchester City lost 0-2 to Crystal Palace in the Premier League match which took place at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (30/10).
The game has only been running for six minutes, Palace leading 1-0. Starting with Conor Gallacher’s success in stealing the ball from Aymeric Laporte, Wilfried Zaha then controlled the ball.
Zaha had passed the ball to Gallagher and the round skin was then thrust back to Zaha. Ederson couldn’t stop Zaha’s final execution.
Man City immediately reacted to a goal. Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden, Kevin de Bruyne, and Jack Grealish tried to take advantage of the situation in the middle of The Citizens encircling the Eagles defense.
Palace counter-attack became a threat in itself when Man City did not manage to score an equalizer. During injury time, the referee issued a red card to Laporte who was deemed to have committed a foul as the last man against Zaha.
After the Laporte vs Zaha incident, Bernardo Silva was then involved in a duel with Zaha which earned the Portuguese player a yellow card. The match heated up because several players took part in the feud. The referee also then gave a yellow card for Ederson.
In the second half, Man City tried to continue to attack despite being outnumbered by players. While Palace, who are still playing with 11 players, still choose to counterattack or take advantage of set pieces like the opportunity that Marc Guehi got when he welcomed Gallagher’s free kick in the 51st minute.
Zaha scored in the 59th minute, but the score remained unchanged as the player was deemed to be in an offside position.
One minute later, Gabriel Jesus changed the score. Phil Foden’s curling pass was completed by Jesus from a tight angle. But then the goal was disallowed because Foden was declared offside through a VAR review. Man City still trailed 0-1.
Pep Guardiola’s men tried to keep the ball and lock up the opponent. Palace was able to reduce attack after attack for the host and occasionally intensify counter attacks.
Palace made it 2-0 in the 88th minute. A counter-attack plan that was started by Zaha and Olise was completed by Gallagher. Man City also suffered a second defeat of the season.
