Arsenal won a narrow victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League continued at the Amex Stadium, Wednesday (30/12).
Looking to win back-to-back wins, Mikel Arteta fielded a starter that was almost the same as the game against Chelsea on Boxing Day.
The Gunners tried to dictate Brighton’s play, but struggled to break through the Brighton defense. In fact, Brighton has put Arsenal under pressure several times. It’s just that the final pass and the final finish of the hosts didn’t make Arsenal really threatened.
The Seagulls chance in the 37th minute through Alireza Jahanbakhsh is the best chance the host has.
After the score was a goalless draw in the first half, the second half started with opportunities from the two teams. Brighton’s corner causes chaos in front of Arsenal’s goal in the 46th minute.
Arsenal then responded in the 50th minute through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s chance, who was still able to be countered by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Two minutes later it was Gabriel Martinelli’s turn who had the opportunity to open a shot from the penalty box but still went up.
Alexandre Lacazette, just 21 seconds on the pitch, replaced Martinelli, scoring in the 66th minute after maximizing Bukayo Saka’s pass.
Arsenal maintained their game performance, while Brighton tried to steal a chance to score a goal back.
There were no more goals until the referee blew the final whistle. Arsenal also won successive wins in the Premier League since September.
The club from North London deserves to thank one of its young players, Bukayo Saka. Thanks to the English player’s assist, striker Alexandre Lacazette scored and gave Arsenal victory.
Saka performed brilliantly in Arsenal’s last two matches in the Premier League. Against Chelsea, Saka scored brilliantly.
When against Brighton, the 19-year-old player also often made it difficult for the opponent’s defense, apart from providing assists.
Saka’s slick performance has now made coach Mikel Arteta anxious. The Spanish coach did not want people to put more burden on Saka.
“I want everyone to be careful, let him, and let him develop,” Arteta was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“I think he has the right development. I think he has the right people around him in his house, in his entourage,” added Arteta.
Saka himself was reportedly injured after walking limply after the match against Brighton. However, Arteta said that Saka’s condition was fine.
“Today he had a difficult match in the first half, because we didn’t use certain moments to turn the advantage for him and the other attacking players in the right way,” said Arteta.
In Arteta’s eyes, the game of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his friends began to change in the second half, when his team made various attacking variations.
“We found more freedom, more space and more capacity to unlock situations and blocks,” said the former Manchester City assistant coach.
“We created four or five big chances and he [Saka] was involved in most of them,” added Arteta.
