Arsenal successfully beat Newcastle United 2-0 in the Premier League match which was held at the Emirates Stadium, Saturday (27/11).
Arsenal and Newcastle both failed to score in the first half. In fact, both teams had some good chances. Arsenal’s winning goal was created in the second half through Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
These results make Arsenal back on track positive. Mikel Arteta’s men are fifth in the standings with 23 points. Meanwhile, Newcastle are in 20th position aka the bottom of the standings with 6 points.
Arsenal played aggressively at the start of the half. Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard were quite dominant when starting the goal. In the 11th minute, Arsenal had a chance to appear still blocked by Emil Krafth.
Saka had a good chance in the 16th minute, but was still sideways. In the 20th minute, it was Odegaard’s turn to have a chance. But still thwarted by Dubravka.
Newcastle were not without opportunities in the first half. Jonjo Shelvey twice put Aaron Ramsdale down in the 30th minute and a minute later. Arsenal have successive Ramsdale in goal.
Arsenal got a golden opportunity in the 41st minute. Smith Rowe’s header can still be secured by Dubravka. The volley ball was then within reach of Aubameyang. However, his shot only hit the post. The first half ended with the score 0-0.
Arsenal still appear aggressive at the beginning of the second half. Newcastle played pretty solid at the back and were dangerous on the counter-attack. There were no substitutions, either for Arsenal or Newcastle.
Goal! Arsenal opened the scoring in the 56th minute. Saka exchanged passes with Smith Rowe and Tavares. Saka then broke into Dubravka’s goal from a tight angle. Arsenal won 1-0!
Bad news got Arsenal in the 63rd minute. Saka was injured and could not continue the match. His role was replaced by Martinelli. It was a perfect substitution because Martinelli then scored after receiving Tomiyasu’s pass. The score becomes 2-0.
Newcastle tried to reply through the action of Miguel Almiron and Saint-Maximin. However, they have not been able to put pressure on Ramsdale. Arsenal played pretty solid at the back. Their ball control is also very neat.
Arsenal had several other opportunities. So did Newcastle. However, no additional goals were created until the game was over. Arsenal won with a score of 2-1.
This victory made Arsenal managed to rise after swallowing a crushing defeat in the previous match. In the last match, Arsenal were crushed by Liverpool 0-4, on 7 November.
This victory also further secures Arsenal’s position in the top five of the Premier League standings.
Meanwhile, this defeat made Newcastle fail to rise after being winless in the last 13 matches. This defeat made Newcastle also failed to improve the ranking of the bottom position of the Premier League standings.
