Premier League Results: Chelsea Beat Sheffield

Chelsea have won the third of four games led by Thomas Tuchel. This time it was Sheffield United who were the victims.

Competing at the Bramall Lane stadium, Chelsea did not seem to have too much trouble while serving a quick game from Sheffield United which was led by a duet of Oliver Burke and Oliver McBurnie on the front lines.

The Blues themselves in this match still rely on 3-4-1-2 tactics, which has been the mainstay formation of the coach, Thomas Tuchel, since his arrival in London.

Maximizing the attractive midfielders like Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount, the visitors managed to dominate the game throughout the first half.

As a result, the game is less than 10 minutes away when Chelsea almost score a goal if Timo Werner’s shot that makes it past the Sheffield United goalkeeper is not thrown out by the opposing defender before entering the net.

Sheffield United got a penalty on 14 ‘, but the referee canceled the decision because Chris Basham, who was fouled in the box, was already offside.

Continuing to press, Chelsea finally managed to excel first through Mason Mount’s flick in the 43rd minute. Maximizing Timor Werner’s pass, the young England midfielder released a first shot that the opposing goalkeeper could not reach. The 0-1 score for Chelsea’s advantage was a provisional result in the first half.

After the break, Chelsea still controlled the match. While Sheffield United occasionally tried to press through fast counter attacks.

Antonio Rudiger’s own goal in the 55th minute turned the visitors’ advantage to equalize 1-1. However, Chelsea got up and returned to winning 2-1 thanks to Jorginho’s penalty.

Penalty had to be awarded after Timo Werner was brought down by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. The executor, Jorginho, managed to outclass Ramsdale to bring Chelsea winning 2-1.

Sheffield tried to play more openly to change the score. But the attack that was built repeatedly failed to change the situation and was forced to admit the superiority of the Blues.

This is the second win in three matches for the Blues with Tuchel. Chelsea are now crawling to fifth in the Premier League standings with 39 points from 23 matches, just one point adrift of Liverpool in the top four.

Meanwhile Sheffield had to fight even harder to get out of the relegation zone. They are currently slumped at the bottom of the Premier League standings.
