Premier League Results: Leicester Beat Tottenham 2-0

Leicester City managed to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League match with a score of 2-0 at Tottenham Stadium, Sunday (20/12).

In the first 30 minutes of the match, Leicester put more pressure on the Tottenham defense. ‘The Lilywhites’ haven’t even fired an attempted shot at Leicester’s goal.

Even though Leicester dominated possession and pressed more, they also couldn’t record shots on target.

Tottenham’s movement has only been seen in the last 15 minutes. Harry Kane and friends began to be able to apply pressure and produce a number of opportunities.

But in the final minutes of the first half, Leicester actually managed to steal a goal. This happened after ‘The Foxes’ got a penalty because Serge Aurier was thought to push Wesley Fofana.

Referee Craig Pawson decides the penalty kicks for Leicester after seeing VAR. Jamie Vardy, who served as executor, managed to do his job well.

After winning 1-0 in the first half, Leicester cheered when James Maddison broke into Hugo Lloris’s goal with a cross after receiving a long pass.

However, the goal was later disallowed because it was considered to be in an offside position.

Leicester finally doubled the advantage in the 60th minute. Jamie Vardy’s header prompted Toby Alderweireld to make a mistake and send the ball into his own net.

A minute later, Harry Kane tries to threaten him with a hard shot from outside the penalty box. However, Kane’s flat shot was well captured by Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Even though they were two goals ahead, Leicester did not choose to stay. Brendan Rodgers’ squad is still trying to put pressure on the Tottenham defense. That also makes Tottenham not free to attack.

Leicester managed to maintain a 2-0 lead until the end of the match.

Tottenham Hotspur coach, Jose Mourinho, he claims Spurs do not deserve to lose.

Similar comments, condescending to other match, also came out of Mourinho in the middle of last week, when Tottenham lost 1-2 at Liverpool headquarters and the Portuguese coach claimed “the team that performed better lost”.

This time, according to Mourinho, neither his team nor his guests have performed very well even though in the end it was Leicester who took the three points home from Tottenham thanks to a Jamie Vardy penalty and Toby Alderweireld’s own goal.

“I think neither of the two teams performed very, very well,” Mourinho told the BBC after the match.

“This is a game where your team’s goalkeeper is not forced to make a single save, but it is also a game where our team doesn’t do well,” he added.

“We started badly. The first 20 minutes was a poor performance. There were some empty places, pressure, attitude and I didn’t like it at all.”

“Then we changed and adapted and had a period of dominance and opportunity. Then the penalty, which happened out of context. “

Mourinho has also returned to defending his claim that Tottenham deserved to win against Liverpool in the middle of last week, especially since it has been so long for visitors to win at Anfield.

“We deserved to win the game against Liverpool and that’s certainly great because no team has been able to do that for a long time, and our team was phenomenal at Liverpool,” said Mourinho.

The defeat made Tottenham drop to fourth in the standings with a collection of 25 points, overtaken by Leicester City (27 points) who rose to second place.
