Liverpool beat Norwich City 3-1 which was marked by a beautiful goal from Sadio Mane in the 26th week of the Premier League at Anfield, Saturday (19/2).
Liverpool completely dominated the match against Norwich in front of the public itself. Despite continuing to put pressure on, the Reds actually fell behind in this match.
In this match, Liverpool was surprised by Norwich’s goal which made the Reds camp behind 0-1.
Norwich goal were scored by Milot Rashica with a curling shot on Joel Matip to give Norwich City the lead.
Liverpool then reversed the position of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz who scored his first goal for the Reds.
Meanwhile, Norwich City slumped again to the bottom position with 17 points because Watford (18) won in another match that took place at the same time, according to the official Premier League website.
Norwich got off to an aggressive start and immediately tested goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s ability to parry Max Aarons’ sharp cross into goal in their first attack.
Then two minutes later Rashica managed to trick Alisson into netting the ball into Liverpool’s goal, only the goal was annulled because the linesman had raised the offside flag.
Liverpool threatened to return with a dangerous cross from Salah at the far post, where Kostas Tsimikas escaped control and the Greek defender bounced high over the bar.
The hosts almost took the lead in the 20th minute through chaos following a corner and Salah headed home goalkeeper Angus Gunn but Grant Hanley cleared the ball just before it crossed the line.
In the 38th minute, Virgil van Dijk was able to find the ball against Norwich, but the goal was also disallowed because Jordan Henderson was already in an offside position and the glasses score lasted until halftime,
Norwich pulled off a shock three minutes into the second half when they took the lead through Rashica’s speculative shot which veered off Matip to round Alisson and head home at the far post.
Liverpool’s efforts to retaliate did not come to light until Juergen Klopp made the crucial decision to field Thiago Alcantara and Divock Origi to replace Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita, so the hosts played with four attackers from the 62nd minute.
Two minutes after the substitution, Liverpool equalized through Mane’s beautiful goal who fired an acrobatic shot after receiving a header from Tsimikas to make it 1-1.
Liverpool’s momentum continued and managed to bring the hosts back to take the lead through Salah’s composure completing the counter-attack situation after receiving a pass from Alisson to outwit Gunn and several Norwich players who rushed back into their penalty box.
Liverpool’s victory was complemented by Diaz’s first goal, which resulted from his ability to utilize Henderson’s careful through ball with a gouge kick that locked the score 3-1 over Norwich.
Victory makes Liverpool cut the distance from Manchester City. Liverpool have 57 points, only six points behind City who lost against Tottenham Hotspur. Liverpool still has one game to spare
In another match two teams from London, Chelsea and Arsenal both won. Chelsea narrowly won 1-0 over fellow Londoners Crystal Palace while Arsenal beat Brentford 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea’s victory was confirmed by Moroccan attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech one minute before the end of normal time for the second half. Meanwhile, Arsenal won with a one-goal margin thanks to scores from Emile Smith Rowe (48′) and Bukayo Saka (79′) which Christian Norgaard replied in second-half injury time.
