Premier League Results: Man City Beat Sheffield 1-0

Manchester City narrowly won over Sheffield United in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (30/1).

In the early minutes, Sheffield was able to match the hosts. The pressures from Ilkay Gundogan and friends can be overcome. While The Blades can also make the ball in the Man City field area.

After five minutes passed, Man City began to show dominance by confining the visitors’ defense. The ninth minute Man City scored through Gabriel Jesus who took advantage of Ferran Torres’ pass.

In the middle of the first half, Man City’s possession of the ball reached 75 percent, but there was no second goal from Jesus and his friends.

The game played by Sheffield was tactical enough to reduce the attacks of The Citizens.

Not only in the first half, but in the second half, Southampton seemed to be enjoying a role as a team that was constantly being pressed. Unable to get out of the Man City encirclement, Sheffield did not show panic. Sheffield didn’t even rush in attacking either.

Man City also played with a tempo that was not too high and did not hesitate to turn the ball back when it failed to penetrate the opponent’s blockade.

A neat attacking plan made Man City in the 70th minute, but Zinchenko’s finish was still pushed over by Ramsdale. The Sheffield goalkeeper then made another save when Aymeric Laporte looked to head home from the corner.

Four minutes before normal time ended, Fleck almost put Sheffield level. The ball he kicked was still wide to the left of the Man City goal.

Not only Sheffield, Man City also had opportunities in the final minutes of the first half. Jesus’ strike almost sends the ball into Sheffiled’s goal if Ramsdale doesn’t save.

Until the long whistle sounded the game ended, no additional goals were created. As a result, the score 1-0 for Man City’s victory remained.

The result made Man City incised a record. The Citizens for the first time won 12 consecutive wins in all competitions. In addition, Manchester City also scored 31 goals and conceded only three goals in 12 matches.

With the addition of these three points, Man City is still comfortably at the top of the Premier League standings with a point of 44. City are four points ahead of Manchester United in second place. On the other hand, Sheffield remains at the bottom of the standings with eight points.
