Premier League Results: Man Utd Held Draw by Newcastle

Cristiano Ronaldo appeared sluggish during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in the Premier League match at St James Park, Monday (27/12).

The Red Devils star appeared less aggressive by not creating mature chances to score.

In this match Newcastle were able to take a quick lead in the 7th minute through Allan Saint Maximin’s goal after taking advantage of the moment of counter-attack.

In the 22nd minute, Jonjo Shelvey’s hard kick from outside the penalty box after taking advantage of Newcastle’s counter-attack was also able to threaten the Manchester United goal. However, his shot was blocked by Man Utd goalkeeper David De Gea.

Until the first half ended there were no additional goals that could be scored by both teams. Newcastle managed to close the first half match with a 1-0 advantage.

At the beginning of the second half, Newcastle immediately threatened the Man Utd goal through Allan Saint Maximin. However, Saint Maximin’s flick failed to become a goal after it was secured by Man Utd goalkeeper David De Gea.

In the 48th minute, Marcus Rashford was able to endanger the Newcastle goal through a hard shot from outside the penalty box. However, Rashford’s shot was blocked by the Newcastle goalkeeper.

In the 70th minute, Manchester United finally broke the deadlock through a goal scored by Edinson Cavani to change the score to 1-1.

In the 87th minute, Newcastle were able to threaten the Manchester United goal after Jacob Murphy’s shot hit the Red Devils goal post.

Until the game ended no additional goals were created. Newcastle vs Manchester United match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Man United star, Cristiano Ronaldo, was locked out for most of the game. The Portuguese striker was recorded only able to release two shots, all of which were not on target. Right in the 57th minute, a frustrated Ronaldo had to receive a yellow card after violating Ryan Fraser hard in midfield.

One point for Man United this time could not be separated from David De Gea’s brilliant performance in goal. The Spanish goalkeeper made seven important saves throughout the match.

The draw against Newcastle did extend Man United’s unbeaten run during Ralf Rangnick’s reign to four games in a row. However, the draw made Man United stuck in seventh place in the Premier League standings with a collection of 28 points from 17 matches.

The Red Devils, nicknamed Man United, are temporarily seven points behind Arsenal, who have played 19 times and now sit in fourth place or the last limit of the Champions League zone.
