Manchester United lost to Watford with a score of 1-4 in the Premier League match at Vicarage Road, Saturday (20/11).
Watford wasted the opportunity to take the lead over Manchester United early in the game. Ismaila Sarr missed the opportunity to do two penalties which were executed by him.
In the first opportunity, Sarr’s shot was denied by De Gea and Kiko had a wild ball thrown in. The referee then decided to repeat the penalty because the Watford player had entered the penalty box when the ball was kicked.
Sarr took another penalty but De Gea was able to thwart it again.
Despite failing to score quickly, Watford could finally lead by two goals in the first half. Joshua King rattled the Man Utd goal in the 28th minute after receiving a mature pass from Emmanuel Dennis.
Watford then doubled their lead in the 44th minute through Sarr. After receiving the ball from Kiko, Sarr decided to shoot low. De Gea could not blocked the hard shot.
Behind two goals, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to field Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial at the start of the second half.
Van de Beek could score a reply in the 50th minute. Van de Beek continued Ronaldo’s header and managed to hit the ball into the goal.
In the 57th minute, van de Beek’s through ball set Ronaldo free. CR7 fired hard but was blocked by Ben Foster and made the ball miss the target.
Man Utd’s efforts to catch up became even more difficult after Harry Maguire was shown a red card in the 69th minute. Maguire got a second yellow card seven minutes from the first yellow card he received.
In the 77th minute, Ronaldo had struck the ball into the net after receiving a van de Beek pass. But the goal was not confirmed because Ronaldo was in an offside position.
A minute later, Bruno Fernandes missed a chance when he got an open shooting space in front of the penalty box.
Despite being outnumbered by players, Man Utd tried hard to keep pressing and looking for scoring opportunities.
But in the end it was Watford who could score at the end of the match. Joao Pedro was able to beat De Gea through a hard shot after receiving a through ball from Dennis.
Watford then managed to add a goal in the final seconds through Dennis. The poor performance of the Man Utd back line was exploited by Dennis who burst in and fired a cross.
Watford closed the game with a 4-1 win over Man Utd.
