Pep Guardiola’s team Manchester City rolled Norwich City four goals without reply in matchday 25 of the Premier League at Carrow Road Stadium on Saturday. Raheem Sterling scored three goals in this match, with another goal scored by Phil Foden.
Thanks to this victory, City increasingly firmly at the top of the Premier League standings. At the same time keep City away from their rival clubs in the race for the English Premier League title. Pep Guardiola’s squad sit at the top of the table with 63 points from 25 matches, 12 points adrift of Liverpool in second place. Even so, the Reds have played just two games less.
Manchester City almost scored a quick goal in the 5th minute after Bernardo Silva’s shot hit the post. Two minutes later City threatened again with Ilkay Gundogan’s header on target in the penalty area, but the ball was still caught by goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
In the 10th minute, Norwich hit back through Teemu Pukki’s shot towards the goal. However, goalkeeper Ederson Moraes was able to anticipate. Norwich threatened again in the 18th minute. Welcoming a pass from a corner kick, Grant Hanley’s header still hit the post.
The Citizens had a chance to score in the 25th minute. Raheem Sterling fired a shot from inside the penalty box, but the ball that went into the bottom corner of the net can still be parried by Gunn. This time Sterling’s experiment led to a goal in the 31st minute. He managed to get the ball after the opposing defender failed to clear Kyle Walker’s cross.
Sterilng then fired a measured shot to the far post and the score changed 1-0 for the visitors. Two minutes later, Gunn made a save by parrying Riyad Mahrez’s left-footed shot on the right side of the penalty box.
City got two chances in a row in the 39th minute. Attempts from Mahrez and Gundogan themselves from close range can still be broken by the Norwich defense. There were no additional goals until halftime and City led 1-0.
After the break, City immediately added to their advantage two minutes after the second half began. Phil Foden listed his name on the scoreboard after taking advantage of the chaos in the goal mouth. Sterling perfected his performance in this match by scoring a hat-trick in the 90th minute. City get a penalty after Grant Hanley fouls Liam Delap. Sterling’s penalty was blocked by Gunn, but the England striker managed to find the rebound for the goal and lead City to a convincing 4-0 win. City are entitled to three points from this match.
