Premier League Results: Manchester United Successfully Embarrassed Host Manchester City

Manchester United successfully embarrassed host Manchester City with a score of 2-1 in the English Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday (7/12).

Two goals from Manchester United was clearly a surprise for Man City. Because when you see from the course of the first round match, The Citizens – nicknamed Man City – can be said to be the team that has the most control over the course of the match. Man City on average always controls the acquisition of the ball above 60%.

However, in fact Man United is far more effective when attacking. Although only getting a few chances, but the opportunity was able to be put to good use by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team until there were two goals.

City’s catastrophe occurred after Bernardo Silva violated Marcus Rashford in the 19th minute. The referee also pointed to the white point after consulting with an assistant who watched a video rerun (VAR).

Rashford who advanced as an executor was able to carry out his duties properly in the 23rd minute.

Six minutes later the Etihad public were again struck by a goal by the visitors. This time the goal was set by Anthony Martial using James bait to bring Manchester United winning 2-0.

Manchester City is not without opportunities. Kevin De Bruyne’s beautiful bait in the 39th minute failed to be struck by Gabriel Jesus. David Silva’s free kick in the 43rd minute is also still able to be blocked by De Gea.

For the second half, there was no goal that was created at all in the last 45 minutes of the match. Though both teams both got a number of golden opportunities. However, all these opportunities failed to be converted into a goal.

Man City can be said to be the team that creates the most chances in the Manchester derby match. However, as said before, the poor final settlement was the reason why The Citizens did not score.

Several times Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne, get a chance at the mouth of Man United’s goal. But all of that always fails because it has been countered by Man United’s defense.

A barrage of attacks launched into the heart of the Manchester United defense. However, awaited goal just arrived in the 85th minute through a header from substitute Nicolas Otamendi.

Otamendi’s late goal five minutes before normal time was unable to save City’s face from defeat. Manchester United won the derby 2-1.

This result is a big loss for City in the hunt for the English Premier League title. The Citizens increasingly difficult to catch up 11 points from Liverpool who are at the top of the standings. While Manchester United is ranked fifth.
