The results of Brentford vs Manchester City in the 2023-2024 Premier League are now known. The match at the GTech Community Stadium, London, Monday (5/2/2024) ended with a score of 3-1 for The Citizens.
The hosts took the lead in the 21st minute through a goal from Neal Maupay. However, Phil Foden’s hat trick (45+3′, 53′, 70′) gave the defending champions full points
It took three points to make Man City appear superior from the start. Julian Alvarez’s long-range shot in the 10th minute was threatening, but goalkeeper Mark Flekken was able to brilliantly parry the ball which was heading towards the top right corner of the goal.
After four minutes, the player from Argentina threatened again, but Flekken again showed brilliant action. The Dutch goalkeeper then blocked Kyle Walker’s long-range shot.
Having fun attacking, Man City’s goal was conceded first. Flekken released a long ball from behind which was well received by Maupay. The French striker dribbled the ball into the opponent’s penalty box and beat Ederson from close range in the 21st minute.
Left behind, Man City’s attacks became increasingly sporadic. However, they were only able to score a goal just before the end of the first half. Foden was able to score the ball from inside the penalty box so that the first half ended with the score 1-1.
After the break, Pep Guardiola’s men got even crazier. Foden is again a frightening threat to the Brentford defense. The English player gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute, after heading in Kevin de Bruyne’s cross.
Turning ahead didn’t make Man City relax. They continue to work hard to ensure victory. The results are sweet. This time, Foden managed to take advantage of Erling Haaland’s pass to give his team a 3-1 lead in the 73rd minute and complete a hat trick.
Five minutes after the goal, Christian Norgaard almost brought Brentford to reduce the score if Ederson was not alert to block the ball. Man City responded with de Bruyne’s shot from close range which went narrowly sideways in the 86th minute.
The hard work of both teams to add goals was fruitless. As a result, the score 3-1 for Man City’s victory lasted until disbandment.
