Arsenal visited Luton’s Luton Town headquarters in Week 15 of the 2023-2024 Premier League. The two teams faced each other at the Kenilworth Road Stadium, Tuesday (5/12/2023).
The home side surprisingly managed to put up stiff resistance. However, the match ended 4-3 in favor of Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s team tried to control the game in the first half. However, Luton Town players were also disciplined enough not to play too much.
After trying various opportunities, the Gunners managed to take the lead through Gabriel Martinelli’s goal in the 20th minute. Gabriel Martinelli hit the ball into the goal after using a pass from Bukayo Saka.
However, the Tam team’s lead only lasted for a few minutes. Luton Town responded quickly by equalizing five minutes later through Gabriel Osho’s action.
Buying and selling attacks continued for the remainder of the first half. Arsenal managed to regain the lead 2-1 thanks to a goal from Gabriel Jesus before halftime.
Moving on to the second half, the Gunners seemed to be trying to control the game again. The tempo is being demonstrated by Mikel Arteta’s troops while continuing to spread threats to the opponent’s defense area.
Instead of adding goals, Arsenal conceded the goal in the first four minutes of the second half. Elijah Adebayo managed to bring Luton to equalize after utilizing an assist from Alfie Doughty.
There was high tension after the score was 2-2. The home team made a surprise by taking the lead through Ross Barkley’s goal in the 57th minute.
The victory in front of Luton Town’s eyes disappeared three minutes later. Kai Havertz scored a goal in the 60th minute. Arsenal then sealed a 4-3 win thanks to Declan Rice’s goal in the final minutes of the match.
Even though Arsenal actually won with difficulty, Arteta actually enjoyed the match because he was happy to see his men fighting until the end to achieve victory.
The most memorable moment in the match which was held at Kenilworth Road, Luton was when Arsenal were able to turn things around from 2-3 to 4-3. Arteta also considered the match to be a very special night.
“I really enjoyed it, especially the ending. The extraordinary thing about football, the emotions and moments you live with so many people. It was a special night,” said Arteta in the club’s official release, Wednesday (6/12/2023).
Arteta also praised the atmosphere at the home team’s stadium. He also appreciated the way the opposing team played.
Arteta admitted that Luton’s game was quite troublesome for Arsenal to win. Luckily the Arsenal players never gave up and were able to recover at the end of the second half.
“Credit to Luton for the incredible atmosphere they created, the way they played, the way they coached, they made our lives very difficult, but we managed to win. The resilience, character and quality the team showed, and how much we wanted it, was incredible ,” continued Arteta.
