Tottenham Hotspur won a landslide victory over host Leeds United with a score of 4-0 in the Premier League match at Elland Road, Saturday (26/2).
Tottenham managed to score three quick goals in the first 27 minutes of the first half. Tottenham’s goals were recorded by Matt Doherty in the 10th minute, Dejan Kulusevski in the 15th minute, and Harry Kane in the 27th minute.
Doherty’s goal was scored through a quick attack scheme. Ryan Sessegnon successfully penetrated the right side of the Leeds defense. Sessegnon’s pass then continued brilliantly by Doherty.
While Kulusevski showed impressive action behind Tottenham’s second goal. Receiving a ball from Doherty, Kulusevski broke through the Leeds penalty area and ended the action with a left footed shot that Illan Meslier couldn’t stop.
Kane also listed his name on the scoreboard after Pierre Hojbjerg’s long pass towards the far post could be maximized by him. Harry Kane successfully struck the ball from a tight angle.
Winning three goals in the first half, Tottenham scored an additional goal in the second half. Harry Kane provided an assist for Son Heung Min to get his name on the scoreboard in the 85th minute.
Tottenham’s victory makes them increasingly enliven the hunt for Champions League tickets next season. ‘The Lilywhites’ have now collected 42 points and are four points away from Manchester United who is in fourth position. Man Utd itself will also play a match today.
Meanwhile for Leeds, this defeat brought them closer to the relegation zone. Leeds has just collected 23 points and is only three points adrift of the red zone.
Harry Kane and Son Heung Min listed themselves as the most compatible duo in the Premier League following the record they broke in the match against Leeds United.
This record broke Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard’s combined record. These two legendary players recorded 36 goals from their collaboration.
The names of Son Heung Min and Harry Kane have also passed the combination of David Silva and Sergio Aguero (29 goals) and Thierry Henry and Robert Pires (29 goals).
“It’s a big pride. The record is important but the three points are also very important because the result in the middle of last week was not good.”
“We managed to break the record but the most important thing is the three points,” Son Heung Min said in an interview with BT Sport, quoted by the Daily Star.
This result is also a medicine for their disappointment after losing narrowly to Burnley in the middle of last week. The defeat to Burnley was somewhat disappointing because it came a few days after they were able to beat Manchester City.
