Premier League results: Tottenham held draw by Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur were being held draw by Chelsea 0-0 in the 10th Premier League match at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Monday (30/11).

Although only a score in terms of goalless, the result maintains a positive trend for Jose Mourinho, who has always lost in the last two meetings against Chelsea.

Statistical records show Chelsea appear quite dominant with 60 percent of the ball during the match. Frank Lampard’s team also fired no less than 13 attempted shots at the visitor’s goal.

In the ninth minute Tottenham have the first chance to score. Harry Kane provided a through ball, but Steven Bergwijn’s execution was still sideways from the Chelsea goal.

Timor Werner broke into Hugo Lloris’ goal in the 11th minute to give Chelsea the lead. However, Werner’s goal was disallowed because he was first offside.

Son Heung Min crossed in the 32nd minute. Kane immediately welcomed the bait. But Kane’s shot was blocked by the opponent’s defense.

Ben Chilwell poses a threat to the Tottenham defense. However, the former Leicester City player’s efforts were still wide.

The two teams had a number of chances in the remainder of the first half, but no goals were scored.

Chelsea put more pressure on Tottenham at the start of the second half, both through Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham. But there are no goal chances for the hosts yet.

The dominance of the Blues’ attack continued in the 67th minute when Hakim Ziyech’s effort went wide of the Tottenham goal.

Midfielder Mason Mount had the best chance for Chelsea to score in the second half. The moment occurred in the 81st minute.

Tottenham’s tight defense made it difficult for Chelsea players to penetrate the penalty box. At that moment Mount saw an opening to open fire. However, Mount’s shot from outside the penalty box can still be pushed over by Lloris.

Tottenham themselves often pressed Chelsea, but did not endanger Edouard Mendy’s goal.

Chelsea substitute striker Olivier Giroud failed to take advantage of opportunities in the team’s injury minutes. Tottenham defender Joe Rodon almost blundered after Giroud won a backpass to Lloris.

However, Giroud’s shot was too weak and the ball was caught by Lloris. The final score for the London derby was a 0-0 draw.

In addition, one additional point is enough to lead Tottenham to regaining the top position of the Premier League standings which Liverpool had taken over 24 hours earlier. Both collect 21 points, Tottenham still have a 12-plus goal difference advantage over Liverpool’s goal difference. Chelsea overshadow the two teams in third place by two points.
