Premier League Results: West Ham Beat Liverpool 3-2

West Ham United won 3-2 over Liverpool in the 11th week of the Premier League at the London Stadium, Sunday (7/11).

West Ham took the lead through Alisson Becker’s own goal after mistaking Pablo Fornals’ corner in the fourth minute.

The goal was protested because it was considered a violation against Alisson. But VAR showed no foul, and the goal went to the Hammers.

Liverpool had the opportunity to equalize after getting a free kick from the front of the penalty box after Mohamed Salah was violated by Declan Rice.

Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the equalizer in the 41st minute. Alexander-Arnold’s curling shot into the top left corner of the West Ham goal could not be reached by goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

At the start of the second half West Ham had almost gone ahead if only Craig Dawson’s header from a corner had not hit Alisson’s crossbar in the 50th minute.

Liverpool responded to the threat of West Ham with Sadio Mane’s attack in the 51st minute. However, Mane’s shot from Andrew Robertson’s cross was saved by the goalkeeper.

The hosts took the lead again in the 67th minute thanks to a Pablo Fornals goal. The goal came from an error by Sadio Mane who failed to control the ball well.

After receiving Fabinho’s pass, Mane did not have possession of the ball, so it was taken by West Ham players who immediately counter-attacked.

Jarrod Bowen dribbled into the Liverpool defense area, then provided Fornals with a through ball.

From outside the penalty box Fornals fired horizontally. The ball was pushed over by Alisson, but his fast kick kept the ball in the net.

Liverpool tried to respond to that goal with another attack. However, Diogo Jota’s header in the 69th minute after using Jordan Henderson’s pass was still thin on the right side of Fabianski’s goal.

West Ham increased their lead to 3-1 through Kurt Zouma’s header. The former Chelsea player found Alisson’s goal with a header after taking advantage of Bowen’s corner.

Liverpool reduced the position through substitute Divock Origi who took advantage of the chaos in front of the West Ham penalty box in the 83rd minute.

Sadio Mane wasted a golden opportunity to equalize after his header in the 90th minute + 1 met Alexander-Arnold’s pass still sideways on the left side of the West Ham goal.

With this victory, the Hammers have now moved up to third in the standings, shifting Liverpool to fourth place.

David Moyes’ side are currently one point ahead of Liverpool. West Ham have the same points with Manchester City who are now in second place, but lost in goal productivity.
