West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen recorded an assist and scored one goal to inspire his side to a 3-1 Premier League win at the London Stadium on Sunday and deepen a relegation crisis at Leeds United.
Declan Rice and Manuel Lanzini were also on the scoresheet for the hosts as they came from a goal down after Rodrigo had given the visitors a first-half lead.
Leeds United remain in the relegation zone with 31 points from 37 games, two points behind 17th-placed Everton with a visit to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the season next Sunday.
Meanwhile, Everton will welcome Bournemouth to Goodison Park.
It caps off a fantastic week for West Ham, who moved up to 14th in the table after confirming their place in the European Conference League final with victory over AZ Alkmaar.
“If you look back on Thursday night the first 15-20 cost us and we were probably not 100% but as the game went on we really dominated and could have had six or seven in the end, wasted chances,” said Rice. to Sky Sports as quoted by ESPN.
“I have a funny feeling that I will score. I think this is my best scoring season. I ran into the box a lot today and I just need to keep adding it to my game,” he continued.
Leeds United took the lead in the 17th minute when Weston McKennie’s long throw was volleyed into the net from 12 yards by Rodrigo Moreno, a fine finish.
The home side responded when Rice, in what could be his last home game for West Ham before the summer move, produced a fine finish at the back post from Bowen’s cross.
Leeds lost striker Patrick Bamford to injury 10 minutes from the end of the first half, a potential knockout for next week’s game against Tottenham, and they failed to put much pressure on the West Ham goal after that.
The home team was able to double their lead through a goal scored by Jarrod Bowen after receiving a pass from Danny Ings.
West Ham’s last goal came in injury time through Lucas Paqueta’s individual action before setting up substitute Lanzini,
“Obviously very disappointing,” said Leeds coach Sam Allardyce. We had chances to get the three points in the first half but unfortunately the failure in the final third let us down.
“The second half struggled a bit, struggled a bit and then whatever we tried in terms of changes didn’t improve the situation for us.”
