Manchester City beat Bournemouth 4-1 at the Vitality Stadium in matchday 25 of the 2022-2023 Premier League, Sunday (26/2/2023). Thanks to that victory, Man City continues to squeeze Arsenal, who are now perched at the top of the Premier League standings.
Playing at home to the opponent did not make Man City play under pressure. Josep Guardiola’s team were even able to immediately try to attack the Bornemouth defense.
No wonder when the match had only been running for 15 minutes, Man City immediately excelled thanks to a goal from Julian Alvarez. Interestingly, 14 minutes later it was Erling Haaland’s turn to score for Man City.
Man City was still going crazy until the first half wanted to end. The closing goal in the first half was scored by Phil Foden in the 45th minute. The first half ended with a 3-0 advantage for Man City.
Entering the second half, Bournemouth tried to get up. However, the home team was shocked again by Chris Mepham’s own goal in the 51st minute.
This lagging situation then did not make the home team drop. Bournemouth tried to keep attacking and only scored a goal in the 83rd minute thanks to Jefferson Lerma’s action.
The 4-1 score for Man City’s victory was ultimately the result of that match. Man City is now in second place and is two points behind Arsenal.
