Premier League Results: Win 5-0, the Gunners return to winning ways

The results of Arsenal vs Crystal Palace in the 2023-2024 Premier League are already known. The duel at the Emirates Stadium, London, England, Saturday (20/1/2024), ended with a score of 5-0 for the Gunners.

Arsenal’s five goals were shared equally by Gabriel Magalhaes (11′), Dean Henderson’s own goal (37′), Leandro Trossard (59′), and Gabriel Martinelli (90+4′, 90+5′). This is the first win for Mikel Arteta’s men in 2024.

Arsenal started the match strongly. Arsenal threatened several times even though Crystal Palace was able to defend solidly to ward off attacks.

Gabriel Magalhaes opened the scoring in the eleventh minute. Declan Rice’s corner kick from the left wing, Magalhaes welcomed it with a header. The ball touched the ground first before nesting in the top corner of Crystal Palace’s goal.

Score 1-0 for Arsenal’s advantage.

Arsenal continues to put pressure on Crystal Palace. In the 22nd minute, Ben White’s pass at Bukayo Saka was continued by Gabriel Jesus. Chris Richards cleared the ball for a corner. Magellan headed the ball again, but this time it went wide.

15 minutes later, Arsenal managed to increase their lead over Crystal Palace. The Gunners benefited from Dean Henderson’s own goal.

Again from a corner kick, Magalhaes met the ball with a header. The ball hit Henderson’s body before entering the Palace goal. Arsenal are now leading 2-0. The score lasted until halftime.

Crystal Palace increased the intensity after the break. Eberechi Eze stabbed into the middle then took a low kick towards the left corner. David Raya can still anticipate the ball.

Arsenal twice claimed penalties after fouls on Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, but were both denied. Before the game had even rolled around for an hour, Arsenal managed to score their third goal.

Leandro Trossard increased Arsenal’s lead 3-0 over Crystal Palace in the 59th minute. David Raya threw a long throw from behind to Gabriel Jesus. Trossard received the ball in the penalty box, then grabbed Nathaniel Clyne, before finishing with a right-footed shot.

Then the match went almost one way. Arsenal continued to attack Crystal Palace in pursuit of additional goals.

In injury time, Arsenal finally managed to score the long-awaited fourth goal. Martinelli found the back of the Crystal Palace goal so the position changed 4-0. Eddie NKetiah’s pass was received by Martinelli on the left side of the penalty box, and he finished with a shot towards the far post.

Martinelli scored his second goal or Arsenal’s fifth goal just moments before the match ended. Martinelli did it in a similar way to his first goal. Jorginho’s pass in midfield was completed by Martinelli with a right-footed shot to the far post.

Arsenal also managed to maintain a 5-0 lead over Crystal Palace in that match. The home team also has the right to get three points which puts them in third place in the standings with 43 points.
