Chelsea managed to beat Burnley 4-0 despite not playing Romelu Lukaku in the Premier League continued at Turf Moor Stadium, Saturday (5/3).
Chelsea again ruled out Lukaku on the bench in this match. Lukaku began to lose his place in the Chelsea first squad because he failed to take advantage of coach Thomas Tuchel’s trust.
Early in the first half, Chelsea appeared aggressive. Even when the game was just running in the 2nd minute, Chelsea already had a chance. Saul picked up a pass from Rudiger on the left and sent it straight into the box, but the ball was too high for Havertz.
Chelsea continued to dominate possession in the first ten minutes while looking for space to score. Burnley just got a chance in the 12th minute. Taylor gave James a pass which was passed to McNeil. However, their efforts were successfully stopped by Thiago Silva who cut the ball.
Chelsea had a chance in the 15th minute when Mount passed for Saul which was followed by a through ball for Havertz who was ready to shoot but Taylor was still able to block the ball. A wave of attacks continued to be launched by Chelsea, but still failed to produce a goal. The first half ended with a score of glasses.
The German coach’s decision had made it difficult for the Blues to score in the first half and had to settle for a 0-0 draw.
In the second half, Chelsea went berserk and managed to strafe Burnley’s goal four goals without reply.
Chelsea’s new tap opened in the 47th minute thanks to Reece James’ shot from a difficult angle using Trevoh Chalobah’s pass.
Kai Haverts was able to widen Chelsea’s 3-0 lead with two goals scored in the 51st and 57th minutes respectively. Havertz’s first goal came from a header and from close range using Reece James’ assist.
The three-goal lead gave Chelsea the upper hand while the hosts struggled to catch up.
Burnley’s suffering increased in the 70th minute after Pulisic’s close-range shot managed to penetrate the bottom left corner of Pope’s goal.
This result keeps Chelsea in third place in the Premier League standings with a collection of 53 points. The Blues move away from Manchester United who are fourth with 53 points.
Chelsea is still under Manchester City and Liverpool who are in first and second position respectively. Meanwhile, Burnley sit at the top of the relegation zone or 18th with 21 points from 26 matches.
