Earlier in the last month, Harry Kane the Tottetham striker called for an end to player trading before the start of the season. “I think yeah, there have been talks about maybe closing it before the start of the season,” He went on saying,” I think that would be good. I think when the season starts it would be good to just everyone is where they are at. You get on with the season.”
The premier league club voted for what Harry Kane had asked for. The voting was not unanimous and it has favored the transfer window closure at 5 PM before season starts.
Managers of the football clubs have also supported the Kane narrative. They have shown their concerns that the non-closure of transfer window before the start of season disrupt their preparations and effects performance.
However, the trading will not close before the said time. The clubs will be able to enjoy the normal trading of players before the start of the season minimizing the distraction of players.
The European Leagues will be able to enjoy the buying and selling until August, 31 for season of year 2018-2019. But after the voting, the Premier League trading will be concluded on August, 09.
The Premier League’s decision might prove a decisive point to cater manager’s concerns. And Football League owners might follow the new decision. They have shown their interest to follow it with few concerns and require productive dialogue with the stakeholder before they could reach an agreement. The support base within the league is not yet known but to enforce the new decision at least 14 clubs out of the 20 clubs of Premier League must vote for the move.
Kane views were repeated by many. Arsene Wenger repeated that ‘’Clarity” is needed for a beneficial business for all.
“It’s important that we close all that stuff before the championship starts,” said Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. “Players have no clarity. Are they in? Are they out? Will they be tapped up on the afternoon of a game? It’s not the way to work.”
While answering to a question, the former manager of Manchester United Sir Alex Ferguson, repeated the same narrative. He said, “The recommendation we look at is to close the window before the season starts, so everyone knows which players they’ve got and aren’t waiting to see what the first results are going to be”.
Ronald Koeman supported the same idea. “If we do it in the Premier League and the rest of Europe don’t do this, still we have a problem,” said Koeman. “The best is before starting the competitions, stop the transfer window because it’s very silly.”
