Andy Lonergan was contracted by Liverpool as a goalkeeper because of Alisson Becker’s injury. Alisson Becker suffered an injury in the first match of the English League, Liverpool vs Norwich City on Friday (9/8/2019).

“From the diagnosis, Alisson will be sidelined for several weeks,” coach Juergen Klopp said on Liverpool’s official website. With Alisson’s injury, Liverpool practically only have Adrian and young goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Goalkeeper whose full name is Andrew Michael Lonergan was born in Preston, October 19, 1983. Lonergan’s career was spent in his hometown club, Preston North End, between 2000 and 2011. After that, he changed clubs but only as a coating.

Last season, he was listed as a Middlesbrough player on loan at Rochdale. Uniquely, Lonergan had a time with Liverpool when he was still in the Wolverhampton Wanderers uniform.
