Simone Inzaghi delivered a firm message to PSG ahead of the Champions League Final, Sunday (1/6/2025). The Inter Milan coach emphasized that Les Parisiens must be wary of his team, just like the respect that Inter gives to giants such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Arsenal.
The final match held in Munich this weekend is an important moment for Inter. This is their second final in the last three years, an achievement that is rarely achieved even by big clubs.
However, the 0-1 defeat to Manchester City in Istanbul last year still hurts. Inzaghi admitted that his emotions were mixed, but he was sure that his team could realize a big dream.
On the other hand, PSG is also chasing history as their first Champions League champion. This duel is guaranteed to be a fierce battle between two teams that are both hungry for the title.
Simone Inzaghi does not want Inter to be underestimated even though many consider PSG as the favorite. He reminded that his team has experience and a champion mentality after beating top European clubs along the way to the final.
Inter were on the verge of a treble this season, before finally failing in Serie A and the Coppa Italia. However, Inzaghi ensured that the failure actually triggered additional motivation for his players.
“I feel very emotional. We have worked hard to get here, but there is still one last step to make the dream come true,” said Inzaghi.
“We have just finished a season that left many memories. There is disappointment, but we should congratulate Napoli who fought until the end,” he added.
Inter came to Munich with good news: all of their mainstay players are ready to play. Benjamin Pavard, Piotr Zielinski, Lautaro Martinez, and Davide Frattesi are all fit to face PSG.
Inzaghi admitted that he was proud to be able to lead this dedicated squad. He also reminded that PSG are not easy opponents, but Inter have a solid team organization to deal with the pressure.
“Both Pavard and Zielinski are ready to play. Lautaro and Frattesi are also fine. They could have played against Como, but we were ahead at that time,” Inzaghi explained.
“Don’t forget, PSG also just lost in the Champions League final. So, we are both among the few teams who have reached two finals in a short time,” he said.
PSG are still chasing their first Champions League title, while Inter are ambitious to win a third trophy. Inzaghi emphasized that victory in Munich would solidify Inter’s name in the history of European football.
He also praised Luis Enrique as a brilliant coach with clear tactical principles. However, Inzaghi is confident that Inter has the capital to beat PSG as long as they play optimally.
“If we want to enter the history books, then we have to win on Saturday,” Inzaghi emphasized.
“We have great respect for PSG, just like we do for Bayern Munich and Barcelona. But they will face a team that has the same ambition. We know what we are facing and will be ready,” he added.
Many are favoring PSG, but Inter have proven capable of defeating favorite teams throughout the season. Inzaghi emphasized that hard work, team spirit, and determination can be powerful weapons against the star squad.
Inter were even undefeated when facing Arsenal and Manchester City in the group stage. This fact is proof that the Nerazzurri are not opponents to be underestimated.
“We know the talent that PSG has, but organization and team spirit can help us. We must be aggressive, work hard, and have the determination that has been shown throughout this Champions League campaign,” said Inzaghi.
“PSG is a complete team, but they must also be wary of Inter who deserve to be in the final. We both know anything can happen in 90 minutes,” he said.
This Champions League final could be a sweet or bitter end to the season for Inter. Losing means going home empty-handed, while winning will carve their name in history.
“It will make a big difference. But anyway, the players have been extraordinary this season. We played 59 games and gave everything,” Inzaghi concluded.
