Real Madrid have been drawn to play Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of Champions League. The Spanish La Liga champions were unseeded for the draw after coming second in their group behind Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking after the draw, PSG manager Unai Emery spoke of his fear that his side will be exhausted by the time face Madrid. However, he believes his side can beat Zidane’s men and advance to the Champions League quarter-finals.
“I think it’s a good draw, I’m sure we can compete with Real Madrid. To make something great in the Champions League, you have to best the best teams. The last 16 is good moment to play such teams.” Emery said.
“Round of 16 is a great time to play as a team. We need to show character, tactical skills, and talent. Talent is very important.” he added.
Madrid have now clicked into gear after slow start this season. They are currently at fourth place in La Liga standings with 31 points after playing 15 games so far.
This should worry Madrid manager Zidane too much, previous champions have come back from worse for both La Liga and Champions League.
Speaking to media, Real Madrid director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueno admitted it will be tough for them to face France giants.
“It could have been the final, for the power of to the clubs, but that happens in a draw, luck plays a role.” Butragueno said.
“We will meet them in the last 16, which is a bit early, we could say. Logically we are both challengers for the trophy.” Butragueno added.

PSG are strongest team in recent months after signing former Barca’s Neymar, Dani Alves and former Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe in the summer.
“Each summer they have bought enormous players and are getting stronger all the time. They had almost perfect group stage. They have great power up front with Neymar and Mbappe.” Butragueno said.
“We must trust our players, who know how to play this type of game. Hopefully we arrive with a full squad, and have the fortune that you always need in this sort of tie. This is the biggest tie of the round.” he added.
Chelsea on the other side, they take on the Catalan clubs Barcelona at Stamford Bridge after finishing second in the group stage of Champions League.
