PSG vs Borussia Dortmund Results: Score 0-1 (Agg. 0-2)

Borussia Dortmund advanced to the 2023/2024 Champions League final after silencing PSG with a score of 1-0 in the semi-final second leg which was held at the Parc des Princes, Tuesday (7/5/2024).

Dortmund’s only winning goal at PSG headquarters this time came at the start of the second half, through Mats Hummels’ header using a corner kick.

Thanks to this result, Dortmund also has the right to advance to the Champions League final this season with a 2-0 aggregate win, after last week also winning 1-0 at home.

Dortmund will face the winner of the match between Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich in the final match which is planned to be held at Wembley, London on June 2 2024.

Trying to catch up on the 0-1 aggregate, PSG immediately tried to appear aggressive from the start of the match. However, Kylian Mbappe et al. still having difficulty breaking down Dortmund’s defense.

Dortmund itself had a golden opportunity through Karim Adeyemi’s actions. Unfortunately, the goal still hasn’t been scored. A 0-0 draw was the temporary result entering the halftime break.

Only four minutes into the second half, Dortmund was incredibly successful in taking the lead through Hummels’ goal. His header following Julian Brandt’s corner failed to be blocked by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

PSG is increasingly under pressure at home. Despite their best efforts, the rich team still failed to catch up. The score 1-0 for Dortmund’s victory was the final result of this match.

Hummels became the hero of Dortmund’s victory at PSG headquarters through the goal he scored. UEFA also chose the 35 year old defender as Player of the Match.

“Blocks, interceptions, tackles, clearances and leadership at the back, plus the goals he scored, of course,” was the reason the UEFA panelists chose Hummels as the best player.

Hummels was recorded as having made 10 sweeps in this match. He also recorded two blocks, three interceptions, seven duels won and three ball recoveries.

Dortmund’s success in qualifying for the final has further increased the deja vu of the 2012/2023 season. At that time Dortmund also successfully advanced to the top of the Champions League.

What was interesting was that the final at that time was also held at Wembley. Even more surprising, Dortmund’s opponent in the final at that time was Bayern Munich in the All-Germany Final match.

If Munich now manages to get rid of Real Madrid and qualify for the final, then clearly the memories from 2013 will be repeated. If at that time Munich came out as champion, what about this time?
