PSG’s Toxic Named Sergio Ramos

Apart from Lionel Messi, another player at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) who had the unfortunate fate is Sergio Ramos. Messi was a little luckier. Since leaving Barcelona last summer, La Pulga has been getting minutes even though his performances on the pitch have not lived up to expectations.

Messi is frustrated by pressure from all sides, including the discomfort of being among the stars in Paris. While Ramos is much worse. You can imagine how tormented it is for a player who has not yet experienced his debut with a new club even though several months have passed.

Since being signed from Real Madrid n early July 2021, the 35-year-old has only been a spectator. He is still struggling with calf and left knee injuries that will not heal easily. In fact, Ramos has been familiar with injuries since before moving from Madrid. His last appearance with El Real was when he suffered a defeat in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final to the champions, Chelsea, 5 May.

It could be that one of the considerations that made Madrid reluctant to extend Ramos’ contract was injury. Although Ramos has dedicated himself for 16 seasons and successfully carried the captain’s armband, the injury that began to loom made Los Blancos choose to let him go.

It’s useless for Madrid to keep the player if in the end it’s just a bench warmer. The season before thye split, Ramos only played in 21 games in all competitions. This figure is the least throughout his career in a white-and-white uniform. So, why is PSG actually attracted to Ramos? In addition to getting the services of this senior player for free, PSG is indeed being lulled by a big dream to become the new “Los Galacticos”.

Les Parisien are so excited to form a super team with star-labeled players on all fronts. Not enough existing players like Neymar Junior, Kylian Mbappe, and Angel Di Maria. PSG still feel the need to add to their star fleet with Messi, Gianluigi Donnaruma, Georgio Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi.

The big ambition of Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is certainly not only to anchor the top players. Being able to get them for free is a golden opportunity not to be missed. There are targets that are then given to the star players. Apart from securing their supremacy on the domestic stage, which had faltered last season but has seen a return to positive paths in Ligue 1 this season, PSG still harbors dreams of becoming European rulers.

PSG doesn’t just want this status to be only recorded in the line-up. It’s not enough to fill a team with star player attributes. More important than that, they must be able to make it happen in achievement. In recent seasons PSG has almost reached a climax. However, their struggle has not yet reached the championship ladder. The club’s curiosity became even more intense. The longing to conquer Europe made PSG aggressive by bringing in a number of additional ammunition.

Almost all of the players from the latest generation who have joined PSG have felt the sensation of being in a team full of top players. They have also contributed to the amount of money they receive. Except for Ramos. Ramos, who has not yet devoted himself to the team, has not lost his rights. Having not fulfilled his obligations as a player, Ramos is still being paid.

In fact, the payment received by Ramos did not decrease by a penny. PSG still pays Ramos’ wages, which is not worth much. Launching Salary Sport, Ramos is in the ranks of the highest paid players. With no small number, Ramos has not played in an official match for a minute. Any club will definitely think again if this situation continues.

Ramos is fenced in by PSG until 2023. It is not known when the player will recover. The long injury he experienced has not yet shown a bright spot. This means that Ramos will continue to miss playing for an indefinite period of time. Even though PSG’s money doesn’t look like it’s in a row, this situation certainly cannot continue to wait. PSG will choose to take back their own words rather than keep players who can’t contribute. In fact, the presence of Ramos can be “toxic” which can have a bad influence on the team.

Earlier last week, PSG had announced good news. There is hope from Ramos’ injury recovery and fitness. Ramos will be considered to start joining training together and is expected to end his wait to compete soon. In the last few days, there have been reports that PSG are thinking about the possibility of terminating the former Spanish captain’s contract. According to Dailymail.co.uk, the club is willing to let Ramos go if the injury does not improve and his fitness has not returned to an ideal point.

“In the club’s internal circles, the belief about Sergio Ramos before and after his injury has faded. Therefore, PSG did not rule out terminating Ramos’ contract even though it was not a priority. Some people at the club felt that signing Ramos from Real Madrid was a mistake.” That’s what Le Parisien said. If the club gives this signal, it means that Ramos’ recovery process is not going according to plan. The club’s patience is running out waiting for the player to recover.

As in other sectors, luxury also radiates in the defense area. There are Achraf Hakimi, Presnel Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Juan Bernat, Colin Dagba, Layvin Kurzawa, Abdou Diallo, Thilo Kehrer, to young players who were promoted from the under-19 team El Chadaille Bitshiabu. Presnel Kimpembe and the captain, Marquinhos are still the main central defender options. They can still play a good role in the heart of the team’s defense.

To end the cooperation, PSG cannot take unilateral decisions. The club will of course have to discuss this possibility with the player and his agent. There are clauses that must be adhered to. Ramos will not force himself to survive if he is just a name on Mauricio Pochettino’s fleet list. Instead of being “toxic” in the team, the choice to leave can be the best decision.
