The 2021 MotoGP riders gave moral support to Marc Marquez, who decided to miss the opening two series this season.
The Repsol Honda medical team recommended Marquez to focus on recovering from a long injury that began at the start of MotoGP 2020.
Marquez had to be sidelined since last July because his right humeral bone was broken after falling during the opening of the Spanish MotoGP. He had to be out of action for the whole season and underwent three operations.
After joining last week’s training session, Honda decided to postpone Marquez’s debut this season. His position was officially replaced by Stefan Bradl in the first two series.
2020 MotoGP world champion Joan Mir admitted that he did not have many opportunities to talk directly with Marquez on the sidelines of a busy training session. However, he hopes that the Spaniard can return to paving soon.
“He is trying to recover and it is not easy. I see his condition is good but in the end I can not see it,” he said.
“I hope Marc (appears) in Qatar because he has been training and trying to cover many kilometers to start the race here. But apparently not,” continued Mir.
Pol Espargaro, who is Joan Mir’s teammate, also shares his views on Marc Marquez. Even though he was absent in the first two series, Marquez is believed to be able to return to the highest level.
“As a racer and a team, we are looking forward to his return because it will really help us all. It will be big news when he returns and I think he will quickly return to the top level and get on the podium soon,” said Espargaro.
Meanwhile, Jack Miller praised Marquez’s struggle to return from injury. He believes Marquez will come back stronger than before.
“Nobody knows better about how Marc Marquez struggled last year than himself. I’m sure he will come back and be stronger. When that moment comes, it’s all his decision. We can only wait for him to come back,” said Miller.
