Qatar Sponsors Hundreds of Fans to Watch the World Cup for Free

The Qatar World Cup organisers to sponsor travel and accommodation for hundreds of fans to watch the tournament for free.

According to reports, Qatar was paying for plane tickets and hotels for a group of 50 Dutch fans to watch the World Cup final, on the condition that they sign an “appropriation agreement” in favour of the organisers.

However, those invited to Qatar to watch the World Cup for free need post positive feedback about the tournament on social medis, and report any comment that is offensive, demeaning or abusive alongside screenshots.

“As the tournament drew to a close, we invited our most active fan leaders, asking them to nominate a small number of fans to come in as guests to thank them for their cooperation,” a spokesperson said.

On its website, the Qatar World Cup organisers say the Fan Leaders program includes 400 fans and influencers from 60 countries around the world.

They said that the fans who provided the tournament’s “in-depth, creative and message-spreading” information. However, the organisers did not specify how many fans were invited to this country to watch the World Cup for free.

“Our fan leaders are playing a crucial role in engaging with supporters who are planning to come to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup, and in providing us with invaluable feedback on a variety of queries and topics related to the tournament and the host ccountry” said Haya Al Kuwari, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Fan Engagement Lead.

“Their passion and enthusiasm for Qatar 2022 has been inspirational and an important contribution to helping our build-up to the greatest show on Earth in November and December.”

The 2022 World Cup will take place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. The first match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador took place on November 20, after the opening ceremony at Al Bayt Stadium with a capacity of 60,000 people.
