Radja Nainggolan had to spend the night in prison after being arrested by the police in connection with an alleged cocaine smuggling case.
This is because Radja still has to undergo further examination regarding the alleged case that befell him. The former Bhayangkara FC player must undergo legal proceedings at the Brussels police station, Belgium.
Radja Nainggolan’s lawyer, Omar Souidi, confirmed that the police were still carrying out the interrogation process until Tuesday (28/1/2025) local time.
“My client has been interrogated, as you can see. The police’s questions were delivered in a very correct manner. He [Nainggolan] is willing to cooperate in answering the questions,” said Souidi as reported by the Belgian media, GVA.
“The investigation will be carried out on Tuesday. So my client must wait until he is allowed to be released.”
Previously, the police had made an arrest on Monday (27/1/2025). During the arrest, the police also took Radja Nainggolan’s car using a tow truck and searched around 30 houses in Antwerp.
Quoted from the Dutch media De Telegraaf, that during the search on Monday morning in Antwerp, Radja Nainggolan’s car had to be towed by the police to be used as part of the evidence investigation.
Nainggolan himself is still active as a footballer after joining the Belgian Second Division club, KSC Lokeren Temse last week. In fact, on Saturday (25/1/2025), Radja Nainggolan had just played in the Belgian League.

“Brussels police arrested former Belgian international Radja Nainggolan on Monday morning in connection with an investigation into the import of cocaine from South America to Europe,” wrote Belgian media, AD.
AD reported that the arrest was part of a larger investigation after Brussels police conducted searches at a number of homes.
