Rafael Nadal wins his 11th title at the Roland Garros Tournament

Roland Garros’ men’s singles final 2018 between Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem has been held on Sunday (10/06/2018).

Rafael Nadal won the 2018 Roland Garros title after winning the match in straight sets.

Playing in the field of Philipp Chatrier, Paris, France. Nadal was able to finish Thiem’s resistance within 2 hours 42 minutes with the final score 6-4, 6-3, 6-2.

Rafael Nadal actually got a fierce fight from Dominic Thiem during the first set. The world number one men’s singles were forced by Thiem worked hard for 61 minutes despite finally managed to lock the first set with a score of 6-4.

Having managed to win the first set, Rafael Nadal looked no trouble controlling the game in second set. Evidently, the left-hander was able to dictate Thiem’s game by taking three initial sets first.

Although Dominic Thiem had tried to provide resistance, but Rafael Nadal still successfully maintain the momentum until finally successfully closed the second set with a 6-3 position.

Entering the third set, Dominic Thiem tried to give a bit more resistance against Rafael Nadal who got a bit of a nuisance. Nadal had received treatment for his left finger when the third set entered the position 2-1. After receiving treatment, Rafael Nadal also looks a little trouble holding a racket with his left hand, which incidentally is his dominant hand.

Nevertheless, it did not stop Nadal to continue the fight before finally closing the third set with a score of 6-2.

With these results, Rafael Nadal is entitled to appear as champion Roland Garros 2018. This is the eleventh title of Nadal, aka Undecima, which was achieved at the Grand Slam tennis tournament. As well as adding his Grand Slam collection to 17 titles. Nadal is now just behind three titles behind Roger Federer.

“It’s really great, I play a great match against a great player, I’m having a tough moment in the third set with cramps in my hand I’m very scared but that’s sport,” said Nadal who was injured at the end of the game.

“To win 11 times here is a fantastic result and not something I’ve ever dreamed of,” said the 32-year-old.

Nadal joined Margaret Court from Australia as the only player to win 11 titles in the same tournament.
