Claudio Ranieri has reiterated that Riyadh Mahrez is not joining Arsenal. The Leicester city boss that managed his squad to a fairy tale Premier League title has told in an interview to BeIn Sports that his winger won’t be going anywhere.
The PFA player of the year, Mahrez, has been linked constantly to a move to Arsenal however Ranieri believes he is 100 percent certain that the Algerian won’t be leaving the club. Ranieri believes the move will not be in the best interest of Mahrez
“I speak often with him and say stay with us, it’s much better for your future, I think he is an intelligent man and he will stay,” Ranieri told
After losing their anchor-man, N’Golo Kante to Chelsea, it will come as a big blow to Leicester’s hopes of a good season if they lose another star.
Previous Jamie Vardy had been in links with a move to Arsenal but all speculations were put to rest when he signed a long term contract with the Foxes. Leicester extended Andy King’s contract for a further four years as well in this term.
Leicester are currently in the US for their preseason friendlies. Mahrez is very much a part of the squad and also scored a splendid solo goal when they played against Celtic. All of this points towards the deflation of hopes and aspirations of the Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger.
“He improves more if he stays with us for another year, maybe next year he can think about another solution. If he goes for a lot of money, everybody will be expecting something special. He can do something special, but with us.” – The Leicester boss told SkySports
“We support him very well, this is important, when you change teams maybe you don’t find team-mates who help you at the same level” – he further added
Arsenal are now looking elsewhere such as the likes of Alexandre Lacazette.
