The 2023/2024 La Liga season has officially ended. Real Madrid emerged as champions. Granada will leave La Liga and move down a caste. Then, there was Girona who made a big surprise and finished in third place.
The 2023/2024 La Liga season is going to be very interesting. Many important moments occurred. At the start of the season, there was an explosion of Jude Bellingham, who had just been bought by Real Madrid. He once led the list of top scorers.
In the final phase of the season, Toni Kroos parted ways with Real Madrid after being together for 10 years. Then, there was Artem Dovbyk who performed heroically with Girona and won the top scorer title.
Sevilla, who usually come up with lots of surprises, failed miserably in the 2023/224 season. Sevilla was only able to finish in 14th position in the standings. Check out the summary of La Liga 2023/2024 below.
Real Madrid, the Champions!
Real Madrid was able to snatch the championship title from the hands of its rival, Barcelona. Madrid won with a very convincing performance since the start of the season.
Madrid was able to get 95 points from the 38 matches played. Carlo Ancelotti’s troops are ahead by 10 points from Barcelona who are in 2nd place. For Real Madrid, this is their 36th title.
One team that deserves praise, apart from Real Madrid, is Girona. They were able to compete at the top, even at the top of the standings. Girona finally finished in 3rd place in the final La Liga standings.
Girona, for the first time in the club’s history, will play in the Champions League.

Teams Relegated from La Liga
Three teams are confirmed to be relegated to the Segunda Division next season. The three teams are Granada, Almeria and Cadiz.
Granada only got promoted to La Liga at the start of last season. However, their performance was very poor. Granada is bottom of the standings with 21 points, as well as the club that has lost the most (25) and conceded the most (79).
Then, there is Almeria who is in 19th position in the standings. Almeria also only got 21 points from 38 matches. Almeria is the team that has won the fewest in La Liga this season (3 times).
Another team that was relegated was Cadiz. After several seasons of being able to maintain their existence in La Liga, Cadiz failed to compete in the 2023/2024 season. They only got 33 points from 38 matches played.
Teams Promoted to La Liga 2024/2025
Three teams were relegated to the Segunda Division. Instead, three teams from Segunda were promoted to La Liga. Two teams are promoted directly, while one team will fight through the play-offs.
The Segunda Division is now in its 41st week, there is still one match left before 22 teams are competing.
Real Valladolid is at the top of the standings with 72 points. They are certain to be promoted to La Liga. However, it’s not necessarily a winner. Then, there are Leganes and Eibar who will compete for a promotion ticket to La Liga.
Leganes is now in 2nd place with 71 points, three points ahead of Eibar who is in third place. Leganes only needs one point to be promoted to La Liga. However, if they lose and Eibar wins, then Eibar will be promoted because they are superior head to head.
