Red Bull dropped Brendon Hartley to race for Toro Rosso at US Grand Prix

Toro Rosso at Austin is going to be Brendon Hartley Formula 1 debut at Austin, Texas next weekend.

Pierre Gasly, who is being replaced by the 27-year-old New Zealander, is going to run for title at Suzuka Super Formula series.

“What an amazing feeling!” said Hartley, whose career was considered ‘done’ in F1 when he was axed from Red Bulls Junior team in 2010.

The reorganization was necessary as Red Bull has lent Spaniard to French team for a full year 2018. Carlos Sainz is to represent Renault for the final four races of this year in preparation for next year.

Hartley turned to Sportscar Racing when he was released from Red Bulls Junior Programme.

He won FIA Endurance Championship 2015 for Porche along with his teammates Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard.

Hartley could win the Fuji Speedway in Japan as he is leading the current World Endurance Championship series.

Hartley said: “This opportunity came as somewhat of a surprise, but I never did give up on my ambition and childhood dream to reach F1.

“I have grown and learnt so much since the days when I was the Red Bull and Toro Rosso reserve driver, and the tough years I went through made me stronger and even more determined.

“I want to say a huge thanks to Red Bull for making this a reality, and to Porsche for allowing me to do this alongside the World Endurance Championship. Carlos Sain

“Cota is a track I really enjoy and one I have raced at recently. I’m trying not to put too many expectations on my F1 debut, but I feel ready for it.”

It is not clear who will drive Toro Rosso cars for the rest of the season. Hartley is only announced for this weekend race at the Austin Circuit at Texas, America.

Toro Rosso have not said who will race their cars for the remainder of the season after next weekend’s race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

This year’s final grand prix driver at Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi for Toro Rosso is predominantly expected to be Gasly who will retain his seat into next year.

But there are doubts about who will partner him for this year end and next year.

Hartley performance at Austin is going to decide his career at F1.
