Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi and her friends at Red Sparks have the opportunity to close 2024 with a prestigious winning record.
Red Sparks continued their winning streak in the Korean volleyball league this season. After beating AI Peppers, Thursday (26/12), the team from the city of Daejeon won seven matches in a row.
Since November 30, 2024, Red Sparks will be unstoppable. Ko Hee Jin’s men successively beat IBK Altos, Hi Pass (twice), Hillstate, Pink Spiders, GS Caltex and AI Peppers.
On December 31, Megawati and friends will face IBK Altos. If they can win, then the Red Sparks will achieve eight consecutive wins. This record was recorded by the Red Sparks in the 2008/2009 season.
Apart from that, a win over IBK Altos on Tuesday (31/12) will see the Red Sparks sweep the third round with a win.
The Red Sparks’ third round began when they defeated IBK Altos on December 7. For the record, in one round a Korean women’s volleyball league club will compete six times.
Previously in the first and second rounds, the Red Sparks’ performance was still up and down.
Of the 17 matches they have played, Red Sparks won 11 wins and suffered six defeats. The Red Sparks are in third place with 31 points, nine points behind the Pink Spiders and Hillstate who are in first and second place.
For the time being, Red Sparks is still not safe from being chased by IBK Altos, who is in fourth place with the same number of points after winning from Hi Pass.
Despite IBK’s tight grip, the Red Sparks remain in third place in the Korean Volleyball League standings due to their superior set win ratio.
Meanwhile, the defeat against IBK meant that Hi Pass failed to overtake AI Peppers. Hi Pass remains in sixth place in the Korean Volleyball League standings with 15 points, while AI Peppers is in fifth place with 17 points.
