UK MEDIA, Mirror UK reported that Manchester United’s bid for Frenkie de Jong had been rejected by Barcelona on Saturday (11/6/2022).
As is known, Manchester United has made an initial offer of 60 million Euros to Barcelona to bring in Frenkie de Jong. But the offer was rejected.
However, based on the Mirror UK report, Manchester United have prepared a more tempting offer. The team managed by Erik Ten Hag will offer a higher offer.
The new Manchester United coach, Erik Ten Hag, has indeed made his former team at Ajax Amsterdam his first signing at Old Trafford. But there is drama on the side of Frenkie de Jong and Barcelona.
Reporting from Mirror UK, Frenkie de Jong was initially reluctant to reunite with Erik Ten Hag in the Red Devils camp due to their inability to advance to the Champions League next season. But the 25-year-old knows how much Barcelona wants him to let him go.
Xavi Hernandez’s team is still struggling to raise funds to strengthen their team. A number of players are projected to leave Camp Nou before the season starts.
It was stated that personal terms between Manchester United and Frenkie de Jong would not be a problem. But the challenge is negotiating a price with Barcelona itself.
On the other hand, Barcelona do want to let the Dutch player go, which can pave the way for signing Bernardo Silva from Manchester City. Xavi Hernandez is known to be a big fan of the Portuguese playmaker. But again the team was short of funds.
Need to raise money by selling a number of players including Frenkie de Jong. Like Frenkie de Jong, Bernardo Silva is valued at €75 million by his club and he almost left Manchester City last summer. The 27-year-old is disillusioned with life in England during the coronavirus pandemic and wants to move.
However, Pep Guardiola convinced him to stay at Manchester City because his contribution to helping the team win four Premier League titles in five seasons was very important. Nonetheless, Bernardo Silva is open to new adventures despite having three more years on his contract at the Etihad.
