Manchester City’s star Rodri has said it in public without any reservations as to what awaits the champions.
Rodri has thought Liverpool and Arsenal as big contenders for the Premier League title with City hence creating one of the most exciting battles as the season progresses.
The Spaniard midfielder was the first to acknowledge that this year’s competition has been extremely competitive and not for a single time did the player underestimate Liverpool and Arsenal.
Liverpool have been the second team in the league under the tenure of the chief coach Jurgen Klopp, who has come very close to beating City on a number of occasions.
The combination of recognised players and new-generations’ talents put the Reds in search of a return to the pinnacle of English football.
However Arsenal had been on the revival process and had been performing well at that time under Mikel Arteta management.
The Gunners had recruited the right players into their team and had shown a lot more confidence on the pitch.
“I see Liverpool very strong and was not sure how they were going to respond with the goodbye of Jurgen [Klopp]. But they respond like nothing happened, so they’re always a threat.” Rodri said.
“And Arsenal, I think the last two years, yeah, there was the bigger threat.
“Let’s see how they do because when you are at this level two years, it’s not easy to sustain it.” he added.
In the 2024/2025 season, several teams are struggling for this prestigious trophy because the title Premier League is a close fight.
City, the current year’s champions, are aware that nothing has changed in the fact that arrogance is an unspoken and written rule in football.
“We must focus game by game and not take anyone lightly. Every match counts, and we have to fight for every point.” Rodri said.
These are the games that each fan looks forward to, because they are going to be very much nail biting matches full of zeal and talent.
This season every team’s fingerprint will be on City as they battle to repel challenges from Liverpool and Arsenal in their bid to clinch yet another trophy under their belt.
Just the furthest thing from over is the intensity of the Premier League which Rodri’s words capture so well.
And if City is already on the brink of defending their title then English football supremacy battle would have indeed turned a new page.
