Romain Grosjean believes his Haas team has the ability to finish the 2019 season in fourth place in the constructors’ standings.
Since the beginning of the 2019 season, the Haas team has encountered great difficulties with the understanding of Pirelli tires. But for two races now, the Frenchman explains that the situation has improved significantly, especially with regard to the famous window of exploitation that the team could not find.
“We now have a clear idea of what we need to do with tyres. We work very hard, so we know exactly where the window is. Now the question is how to get the tires into this window. I think we are progressing better and better.” Grosjean said.
“Things should improve a bit, and I still think we have the fourth fastest car on the track. The middle of the pack this year is great, super tight. Three-tenths of a second in qualifying can put you in P6, P7 or even P15. It’s very exciting. It’s a good challenge for the drivers. You push yourself to the limit all the time.” Grosjean added.
Grosjean worked hard to reach pole position at F1 so far, but he hopes they could fight for pole position or victory this season.
“I think it would be nice if we could fight for victory or pole position, but obviously the big teams are way too far.” Grosjean said.
“We have the potential for fourth place [in the championship], but we have to put everything in place, put an end to small mistakes and score points. I can not wait to be in Canada.” he added.

Grosjean added Haas owner Gene Haas, who entered the sport three years ago, is also eager for F1 to become more competitive.
“I think people like Gene would like to see that as well in Formula 1. What’s the point of coming just to be always behind the same ones? But at the minute I think it’s going to be the same thing.” Grosjean said.
“Ferrari’s announcing that they’re going to increase their budget for the year. Red Bull is saying that they spent a lot of money on the front wing. Mercedes has been working really hard as well.” he added.
At the world championship, the Haas team is currently in sixth place with 16 points scored since the start of the season.
