Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been defended by striker Romelu Lukaku because of criticism after ignoring the potential winger, Anthony Martial.
Mourinho got a lot of complaints because he rarely played Martial last season. As a result, the French player is unhappy and intends to leave Old Trafford in the transfer market this summer.
Even Martial had to leave the Man United squad who were undergoing pre-season tours in the United States because they were more concerned with their families. Martial’s departure was without knowledge of Jose Mourinho which eventually led to speculation that the 22-year-old player would leave Man United.
The Portuguese manager is also considered not to like playing young players and often throws away soccer star candidates. According to Sportskeeda, Mourinho deserves to be blamed for the current situation experienced by Martial.
Even the former AS Monaco player was predicted to be like Kevin De Bruyne or Mohamed Salah, which after Mourinho’s unused and discarded, both became stars later on. Because, in his first season at Manchester United, Martial’s performance was promising under Louis van Gaal.
Nevertheless, criticism received by Mourinho at this time was denied by Romelu Lukaku. According to the Belgian player, he has a different view of the former Real Madrid coach.
“I have another view of him [Mourinho], he is very calm. People forget, when we play, we have to win it. So when we lose, we are angry, upset,” Lukaku was quoted as saying from Le10sport.
“He [Mourinho] is the type of person who, when angry, shows it. I think it’s normal,” Lukaku added.
The former Everton player also considered Mourinho not a manager who was always serious at all times. The 55-year-old manager can sometimes show his sense of humor to the players.
Because of Mourinho’s open communication method, Man United players including Lukaku were happy with the manager who had handled Inter Milan.
“He made a joke. Sometimes he sent me some funny tips or videos, things like that,” Lukaku said.
“Mourinho is a person who is very concerned about family. That’s what I know about him. We have a good relationship, happy to play with him,” Lukaku said.
