The Saudi government is most likely allowing Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend to live together without registering a marriage.
Saudi lawyers have told Spanish international news agency EFE that authorities will ‘turn a blind eye’ to the superstar couple living together.
“Although the laws of the kingdom still prohibit cohabitation without a marriage contract, the authorities have recently started to turn a blind eye and no longer prosecute anyone.” anonymous lawyer said.
“Although these laws are used when there is a problem or a crime.” he added.
Ronaldo and girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez have not registered their marriage. In principle, it is against the law that the two live together in Saudi Arabia, where he is going to play for Al Nassr club.
The former Man Utd star and Georgina have lived together in Europe since 2016. The two have two children together, Alana Martina (five years old) and Bella Esmeralda (nearly a year old), in addition to Ronaldo’s three children: Cristiano Jr. 12 years old), Eva (five years old) and Mateo (five years old).
Ronaldo has yet to play a match for Al Nassr. The club has not been able to register the former Real Madrid star, due to the expiration of the quota of foreign players.
But, Al Nassr needs to sell, or terminate the contract with the consent of both parties with another foreign player, such as Vincent Aboubakar, Pity Martniez, Ghislain Konan, Luiz Gustavo, Anderson Talisca, Alvaro Gonzalez, David Ospina and Jaloliddin Masharipov.
Ronaldo joined Al Nassr on a free transfer, after agreeing with Manchester United to terminate his contract six months early.
The relationship between him and the English team broke down after an interview with journalist Piers Morgan, where he publicly condemned the club and coach Erik ten Hag.
