After the optimistic euphoria of the Kingdom, the name of RRQ fans after winning the first match of the classic derby against EVOS Glory, RRQ was immediately made to submit by Bigetron who returned to being the favorite in MPL Season 14. Bigetron who was more mature without much roster overhaul managed to win against the young troops of the King with a score of 2-1.
The development project squad that was initially doubted and not even expected to be the champion was able to steal a point against Bigetron and was even able to serve the robot troops. This match showed several things, one thing is for sure, Kingdom does not need to be upset seeing their champion lose because there are more positive sides than negatives.
First, Against a strong team, the young RRQ is consistent with its playing style and is not motivated to just answer challenges but to provide challenges. Second, mentally, coach Khezcute and staff have succeeded in making players appear confident and not feel inferior even though their squad is filled with new kids. Third, losing against Bigetron provides experience and provides a standard for RRQ on what parts are still behind one of the top MPL teams today. Rather than winning and feeling satisfied, losing yesterday’s match had more impact on RRQ facing tough matches in the following weeks.
Touring coach, RRQ Fiel also expressed a similar opinion. Through Instagram DM with Esports.ID, he felt that RRQ was able to put up a good fight. “In my opinion, it’s still a good fight, they still do their gameplay with their bold decisions, it’s just that there are some misses from the war that can be fixed, bringing up new heroes, then against Ling and Harith, maybe they really tried the plan that they managed to do in scrim, keep up the spirit, keep on progressing!” he wrote.
Losing is indeed losing, but in defeat there is a process that can be observed. Did RRQ lose and get slaughtered? Or did they lose with a struggle? What is certain is that the Kingdoms should be more solid in supporting this new team because the process that was carried out was correct.
