Saul Alvarez: “Accept your defeat!”

WBC World Champion, WBA middleweight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs), says he is surprised that Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) and his managers continue to show their dissatisfaction with the result of their rematch held last September.

Alvarez claimed the WBC and WBA world middleweight titles by inflicting a first career defeat of Golovkin with a gripping points win in their rematch at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The two fighters had together delivered their first clash at the same combat site in September 2017, a duel that ended in a controversial shared draw after 12 rounds.

In both victory and defeat, Canelo plans to re-enter the middleweight division (160 lbs). It is important for Golovkin to make a man of himself by accepting defeat, according to the Mexican champion.

“He’s going to keep talking and the answers have been clear after the fight. His coach admitted it himself but as always, they will continue to talk about it and they will never accept defeat, especially since it was his first defeat. He (GGG) needs to see the situation himself and see how he lost.” Alvarez said.

“And his coach said it himself. So he has to accept the situation as a man and accept defeat. They made their mark before the last fight as people who talk a lot and they keep talking,” Canelo added.

The 28-year-old boxer signed a five-year, 11 fights deal worth a minimum of $365 million with DAZN, which only launched in the United States in Sepetember.

This Saturday, Alvarez will make his debut in the super-middleweight division by defeating WBA World Champion “Regular”, Rocky Fielding (27-1-0, 15 KOs), at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

In July, Fielding defeated Tyron Zeuga via TKO in the fifth round to claim WBA title. At the same time of the victory, the relatively, unknown the 31-year-old had little idea that his first defense would come against Alvarez.

“It’s a big fight. We have to see how I adapt to this weigh but I feel good and I’m strong. I’m willing to pas this challenge because this is a challenge. I’m looking to win the title and it’s a challenge that I’m going to overcome.” Alvarez said.
