Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel said there is no age limit for success and there is no limit to what everybody can achieve in the Formula 1.
The German driver has taken the age of his rivals Lewis Hamilton, who is older than himself when becoming a world champion.
Vettel has to worry more about avoiding another Hamilton situation next year with his team-mate Charles Leclerc at Ferrari next year.
“Not specifically. But after more than 12 years, you will surely think about what comes next. It is not good to go through life without a plan.” Vettel said.
“Nobody knows whether it really is this plan. At the moment the target at Ferrari is clear with the world title. And we are not there yet. As long as I perform and can do, age doesn’t matter. Hamilton is three years older than me.
“The pendulum swings very quickly anyway. If you have three good races, opinions change again. Everyone has their own experiences.” Vettel added.
Vettel did not do a perfect job in this year, he was only 14 points behind Leclerc, he had 6 podium finishes, and he finished in the top 5 on 12 occasions only failing to score points on 2 occasions out of 14 occasions.
There are rumours that Vettel would leave Scuderria next year due to the appearance of young drivers in F1. He’s future at Ferrari now is suddenly in doubt.
“My season just wasn’t perfect. Small things make the difference. In the end, the points that should have been scored are missing. Of course I’m not satisfied, I have to improve clearly.” Vettel said.
“Life against Charles will certainly not be easier in 2020. And the new generation is already fully there. With Charles, Max [Verstappen], Esteban [Ocon], Lando [Norris], Alex [Albon], George [Russell], Pierre [Gasly] and the rest.” he added.
