Sebastian Vettel has impressed with Ferrari’s new car for 2018 season. The German believes that the new SF71-H represents a “big step forward” compared to his predecessor, which allowed him to win five GPs and finish in second place in the championship, behind Lewis Hamilton, last season.
Ferrari on last Thursday launched its new car live from Maranello, Italy, in the presence of all the staff of the team, as well as its drivers Vettel and his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.
The Scuderia has become fourth Formula 1 team to unveil its new car ahead of upcoming 2018 season. Williams, Haas and Red Bull have launched their latest car before this.
“The chassis is very similar to last year’s, even though the driving position is always different from one season to the next. I just want to take the track to see what she has in her belly!” Vettel said.
“I have only one desire is to take the track to see what it has in the body. This car is the result of many hours of work, not only during this winter, but also during last season.
“It’s very special for us to be here today, and we are naturally looking forward to taking the track to see how good it is.
“When we take a closer look, we see that particular attention has been paid to the details, and the result is frankly impressive. The car this season is a big step forward, and it only remains to see how it behaves on track.” Vettel added.
The SF71-H on last Sunday became much clearer at the team’s Barcelona testing site at the Circuit de Catalunya.
