Serie A Results: 5 goals scored, Lazio beat AS Roma

Lazio managed to beat AS Roma 3-2 in the Derby della Capitale match in the sixth week of the Italy Serie A League at the Stadio Olimpico, Sunday (26/9).

Lazio became the team that managed to take the lead in this match. Lazio opened their taps thanks to the contribution of the Serbian midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the 10th minute.

Lazio’s goal stems from a cross sent by Felipe Anderson. The ball was then headed by Milinkovic-Savic without being able to be blocked by Rui Patricio.

Nine minutes later the home fans cheered again. Lazio’s quick counter-attack was ended by Pedro with a directional kick from outside the penalty box which thrilled Roma’s goal and made the score 2-0.

Roma try to respond after trailing 0-2 in this city team derby. I Lupi’s efforts only paid off towards the end of the first half.

The goal that made the score 1-2 was scored by the defender, Ibanez. The Brazilian defender scored with a header that led to the right corner of Pepe Reina’s goal.

The score 2-1 for Lazio’s advantage over Roma lasted until the first half was over.

In the second half, the game was getting tougher. Lazio and Roma alternately put pressure on the opponent’s defense.

In the 63rd minute, Lazio kept their advantage over Roma. The goal that made the score change to 3-1 was scored by Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson.

The 3-1 score for Lazio’s advantage did not last long. Roma, who continued to exert pressure, were awarded a penalty after Nicolo Zaniolo was violated by Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro in the penalty box.

Referee Marco Guida steadily pointed to the spot, which had made the Lazio players protest loudly. Finally, after checking through the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), everything became clear, the penalty for Roma.

Jordan Veretout stepped up as the penalty kick taker. Although the direction of the kick can be read by Reina, the ball kicked by Vereout managed to enter the goal and make the score 2-3.

Roma got several other chances after Vereout’s goal. However, these opportunities were not converted into goals by Roma and made the score 3-2 for Lazio’s victory to last until the second half was over.

This is the second defeat Mourinho’s men this season that makes them fail to shorten the distance with the leaders, AC Milan. Roma currently collects 12 points and is stuck in fourth place in the standings, while Milan has 16 points. Meanwhile, Lazio, they are in sixth position with 11 points.
