Inter Milan is now in second place in the Italian League standings with 54 points.
According to Inzaghi this victory is not a new achievement for Sassuolo because they also won against Juventus, AC Milan and now Inter this season.
“I’m very angry with that approach, because we have three days from Wednesday’s game, we talked about the fact that Sassuolo beat Juve and Milan, they played great football and we have to be vigilant,” Inzaghi said after the match.
He said Inter tried to do everything in the second half to chase a two-goal deficit. But Inter were unlucky with many chances but no goals.
Inzaghi praised Sassuolo for having a great technical mentality. They are considered fresher physically and it shows on the field.
Inzaghi will analyze everything after this defeat. He will be looking for gaps in the remaining 13 games of the season to keep progressing. But he stressed that a team that wants to win the Scudetto must not take the wrong approach.
Inter had 110 shots on goal and just six of these included 30 goalless attempts in their last six Serie A matches. Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries, who were substitute in the second half, wasted a number of chances.
“I would have happily substituted more than two in the first half. We lost some of our organisation, we are trying to open it again, but we have to analyze what went wrong today.”
Inzaghi also spoke about Lautaro Martinez’s goal drought. The Argentine also missed a number of important opportunities in the match. But Inzaghi was not worried about the situation. According to him, great players usually experience this.
He assessed that there was a lack of sharpness, both physical and mental fatigue in his team. He and his staff will try to bring the players back into focus.
“We remain the most prolific team in Serie A this season and will be scoring goals again soon. When you are a striker and you don’t score, you just have to stay calm, the goals will come.”
