Inter opened the scoring through Denzel Dumfries in the 30th minute, then doubled it through Marcelo Brozovic in the 40th minute.
Lautaro Martinez then widened Inter’s lead in the 52nd minute. Roma scored a consolation goal through Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 85th minute.
Not many opportunities were created in the first half. However, Inter were more effective in taking advantage of the opportunities they got.
The result, Inter winning 2-0. Inter’s opener was created by Hakan Calhanoglu’s brilliant assist which was completed by Dumfries’ quality finishing.
The second goal was scored by Brozovic with a cross shot that nestled in the top left corner of Rui Patricio’s goal.
Just seven minutes after the kick-off of the second half, Inter were even able to widen their lead. Lautaro scored the third goal with a header following Calhanoglu’s corner.
After that, the match was marked by a series of substitutions by Simone Inzaghi from the Inter camp and Mourinho from the Roma side. At that point, Inter had the upper hand and it was not easy for Roma to turn things around.
Roma’s reply was finally created in the 85th minute through Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s feet. Eldor Shorumorodov provided a pull pass. The ball that led to Rick Karsdorp was left by the Dutchman.
The ball was then well received by Mkhitaryan. Which was then placed by the former Manchester United player into the left corner of the goal without Samir Handanovic being able to anticipate.
Samir Handanovic saved Mkhitaryan’s second goal in the 90th minute. Without additional goals, Inter won 3-1 over Roma.
This result made the Inter stronghold also successfully recorded four consecutive wins in Serie A.
This victory also ended a streak of 12 consecutive wins for AS Roma in Serie A.
Inter get an additional three very valuable points to continue to compete with AC Milan in the hunt for the Scudetto Serie A.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s team encountered a stumbling block in their struggle to penetrate the top four.
