Shifted by Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid, Luka Modric admitted he was not happy. However, the veteran Croatian midfielder is ready to work hard to reclaim his place in the Los Blancos squad – Real Madrid’s nickname.
Jude Bellingham has made an enormous impact since joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund last summer. He has always scored goals in the first four matches of the 2023-2024 Spanish League, with a total collection of five goals.
Most of the time, Bellingham’s goals were the reason Real Madrid picked up the full three points. On the other hand, Luka Modric often becomes a backup due to the arrival of the English player.
Modric admitted that he was not happy because he lost his position as a starter. However, the Croatian player still believes in coach Carlo Ancelotti’s decision.
“Nobody is happy if they don’t play. After the career I’ve had, there’s a very strange feeling for me,” said Modric as quoted by the Daily Mail, Friday (8/9/2023).
“But the coach (Ancelotti) decided that, for his own reasons,” he continued.
Furthermore, Modric admitted that he was motivated to give the best to Real Madrid. Even though he has many achievements and holds the title of senior player in the team, the former Tottenham Hotspur player does not want to take advantage of his privileges.
“My only condition for staying is to be treated as a competitive player, and not to be kept in the squad based on past achievements,” said Modric.
“I am completely calm. I am aware that I have to work hard and sooner or later everything will work out,” he concluded.
