A unique incident was experienced by Mohamed Buya Turay, a footballer from Sierra Leone. Because he had to sign a new contract with Malmo, he had to be willing to not be able to attend his own wedding and be represented by his brother.
Marriage should be a sacred moment and be remembered by everyone who carries it out. However, for Buya Turay, he was willing not to come because he was signed by a big Swedish club, Malmo FF.
Buya Turay had planned his marriage to Baydoun on July 21, 2022. However, he could not attend because he had to sign a contract with Malmo FF after completing the transfer process on the same date.
Malmo does not allow Turay to travel to celebrate his wedding. Forcibly, Turay also asked his brother to temporarily replace him at the wedding.
“We are getting married on July 21 in Sierra Leone. But I couldn’t be there because Malmo asked me to come early,” said Turay, quoted by the Mirror, Tuesday (9/8/2022).
Even so, Turay had prepared for the wedding in advance. In fact, he had time to take pictures with his girlfriend or so-called pre-wedding photos. So, it was as if Turay was at the wedding even though it was only in the form of photos.
“We took photos before, so it seemed like I was there, but I wasn’t there. My sister represented me at the royal wedding,” said Turay. In order not to be misinformed, his sister who represented him at the wedding was not a substitute.
In Sierra Leone, weddings can indeed be represented if the bride and groom cannot come due to urgent matters. Turay left Henan Songshan Longmen, a Chinese club for Malmo. He will now bring his wife to live in Sweden and live married life together.
“I will try to take him to Sweden and Malmo now, so he will be close to me. He will stay here with me. First, we will win the league, and then I will go on my honeymoon.”
