Solskjaer could be sacked by Man Utd this weekend

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is claimed to be able to lose his Manchester United coach position this weekend if he loses against Tottenham Hotspur in Week 10 of the Premier League, Saturday (30/10).

The Daily Mail reports that owners Joel and Avi Glazer have held a meeting with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and managing director Richard Arnold.

The meeting was held to discuss how to handle Man Utd out of crisis after swallowing a humiliating 0-5 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford Stadium, Sunday (24/10).

Management is said to be worried that Solskjaer will not be able to save the Red Devils out of a crisis because he is too soft on their star players, including Cristiano Ronaldo.

Solskjaer himself reportedly remained at the team’s training base, Carrington, for about two and a half hours at lunchtime. Even though the players and coaching staff have been given a day off after the painful defeat to Liverpool.

Man Utd’s struggle to get out of hell is not over. Ronaldo et al have to face Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal in the next match.

Management is worried that the crisis that is hitting the Red Devils is getting worse in the hands of Solskjaer. The option of dismissal can be done if Man Utd lose to Spurs this weekend.

United are likely to appoint Mike Phelan as Solskjaer’s replacement before appointing a world-class coach who is willing to rebuild the team midway.

Currently Man Utd have slipped to seventh place in the standings with 14 points, eight points away from Chelsea who occupy the top position. Losing to Tottenham could be doomsday for Solskjaer’s future.

On the other hand, Solskjaer also has a strategy so that the Red Devils squad can rise from adversity when they meet their next opponents.

“Next week there’s an away game to Tottenham, a Champions League game against Atalanta and the next team to come is Man City. We have to look forward. We have to make a frame of mind and make sure we go into the next training session and play with the right frame of mind, ‘ said Solskjaer.

“Manchester United have been through tough times before and can always come back and take on a challenge. Last season we were second and this season we started badly. You have to get through this and build on the form, start getting good results, start clean sheets and We’ll see where we stand at the end of the season,” he continued, quoted from the official Man Utd website.

Man Utd are currently seventh in the Premier League. With 14 points, Man Utd are six points behind Chelsea who are in the top position. To reach the Champions League zone, Man Utd are three points adrift of West Ham United who are in fourth place.

While in the Champions League, Man Utd occupy the top position in Group F. However, there are still games remaining against Atalanta, Villarreal, and Young Boys. In the first half of the match, Man Utd struggled to beat Atalanta and Villarreal and lost to Young Boys.

In both the Premier League and Champions League, Man Utd’s goal difference is only one goal away. In the Premier League, Man Utd scored 16 goals and conceded 15 times. Meanwhile, Solskjaer and his team have scored six goals and conceded five times in the Champions League.
